I am a Lecturer in an Academy Teaching IT.I am really pissed of today..........I went to lecture , my first day, there are about 4 students, I am supposed to teach Basic Computer Principles (BCP) and Visual Basic Programming(V

They came...only 4 students, as this course is still new....fine.I checked with about the VB Class tommorrow, and they said that they are not taking it,and I felt panic as I am supposed to teach them tommorrow......secondly I wanted to use the Lab................It was locked, luckily I approach the manager in finance who was lecturing in a class and asked him about using the Lab....
He said we will be able to use in 15 min..., he called the Lab Asssistant.
Later I called the course coordinator , before this about the class location, she said it was on the timetable, I saw it it was very small and not clear ...( that was the 1st call) 2nd time to enquire about the Mysterious VB class? she was in the meeting called again still in the meeting
When I was teaching in the Lab. Wait a minute b4 that, the Lab Assitant came to me and said...next time if you want to use the Lab Class , inform me first or call me first to book ( I sensed in a tone of anger) , Well I said I didn't know and its the 1st class, I think seeing me a bit upset...made him slow down.....he has to undertsand this place has no system..........
He continued as sometimes the Lab- Class is used by other lecturers to teach English ect... and soo on.....whatever
Before this When I was teaching Academic Skills course...............I could use the internet Lab whenever I want...
But this case is that my students wanted to use the 'Lab class room soo that it is easier to teach.....(that's when the Lab Assistant .....told me...bla bla bla
And then
At last called the programme coordinator and asked and said the students ....said they are not taking that subject, must I come tommorrow..........well then she said the VB is not for Diploma in IT its for Diploma in Engineering.............oohh ok...and I was like why the hell I am not informed about this....that I would not be only lecturing Diploma in IT students but Diploma in Engineering as well........
by the way there were 2 classes where the Lecturer did not turn up.........and a few came into my class to simply learn...I didn't mind
One thing about this place is that.............
1. They are slow,not organized, or even systematic
2. When they give information............its bits and pieces unless you ask...
3.The salary comes in after 2 months
4.There isnt' a contract.......but the pay per hour is good.We claim from the class attendance sheet...our proof...huh
5. Its an Msc status company, part of large technology company.
6. The labs are slow, Internet access sometimes does not work......I pity the Diploma in IT students as well as the rests......
Hope to get my final break and work in a better University, Institute or College.
